Dumbwaiter

A “Dumbwaiter” is a compact and efficient mechanical device utilized in buildings, restaurants, hotels, and homes to transport small items between different floors. Resembling a miniature elevator, a dumbwaiter typically consists of a small enclosed shaft with vertically moving platforms or shelves.

Functioning similarly to a freight elevator but on a smaller scale, a dumbwaiter is primarily employed to transport items such as food, dishes, documents, laundry, or supplies. It serves as a convenient solution for transferring goods between floors without the need for manual carrying or using larger service elevators.
